Biesterfeld Plastic relies on its long-term partner DuPont for innovative plastic packaging concepts for the cosmetics industry. The distributor sells food contact approved thermoplastics produced by DuPont specifically Hytrel and Crastin in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. It thereby offers a broad product portfolio especially for the food and cosmetics industry which complies with FDA and European food contact regulations.
-The requirements of our customers are constantly evolving. The industry for products with food contact is increasingly dependent on materials that meet the highest standards. With our portfolio, we are adapting to this development, says Martin Rathke, European Product Manager, Biesterfeld Plastic.
The properties of Hytrel and Crastin are vital for cosmetic applications in particular. Close collaboration with DuPont and the further development of the products are essential for the purpose of advising our customers on applications, he adds.
Crastin is a polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) material which is particularly suitable for cosmetic applications such as lipstick, pump and mascara components. The new Crastin types produced by DuPont optimally meet the requirements for improved processing profiles, such as faster cycle times and ease of demouldability. They show increases in productivity of up to ten per cent and meet all global requirements for cosmetic applications.
Hytrel is a polyester elastomer (TPC-ET) which, thanks to its good tactile properties and optimum fatigue resistance, is ideal for dynamic applications. The material has high temperature- and chemical-resistance combined with strength and durability.
-DuPont has one of the industry’s broadest portfolios of plastics for food contact. Based on customer reviews, we know that these products meet the increased requirements and are already accorded a high priority by the cosmetics industry, says Andreas Zöller, Marketing and Business Development Leader EMEA, DuPont. Biesterfeld is an important partner for us when it comes to our efforts to establish Hytrel and Crastin on the market in an application-specific manner.
